The Brief History of Breakfast Teas

By the 1700s tea at breakfast was part of the English lifestyle. The prototype for English Breakfast was developed over a hundred years ago by a Scottish Teamaster in Edinburgh, and marketed simply as "Breakfast Tea". Today breakfast tea has become a favorite of tea drinkers worldwide and is the tea most often enjoyed during English High Tea.

Sourcing Our Organic Black Teas; Ceylon and Assam

Our Organic Ceylon is from the Dimbula region which has tea estates at elevations of 5,000 to 6,000 feet and seasonal monsoons. The teas are harvested from December through February. This tea is characterized by long, chestnut-colored leaves and rich taste. Our Organic Assam Black tea comes from the Sewpur Tea Estate in the Tinsukia district of Assam.

Both teas selected for our Organic Breakfast blend are certified by the renowned "Institute for MarketEcology" in Switzerland, which is an IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) member, recognized worldwide.

Stash Tea is certified organic by Quality Assurance International. QAI is a professional organic certification service that is internationally recognized. QAI's program is designed to certify every step of the organic chain - from the land on which the product is grown, to the growers, to the post harvest facilities and the final processing and handling facilities.

Such diligence provides assurance that the end product is indeed organic and that it complies with state, provincial, national and international organic standards. Products which carry the QAI certification seal convey the confidence of an unbroken "chain of custody" that all materials and processes have been individually certified as organic.

"I start every morning with a cup of strongly brewed Organic Breakfast with a scoopful of collagen and a splash of vanilla almond milk. I've never been much of a coffee drinker, but this daily cup gives me the same satisfaction with just the right boost of energy to take on the day. I love how this blend is both full-bodied and deliciously smooth with just the right amount of malty notes." – Sarah S. (R&D Scientist and Product Developer)

Smooth, rich

Smoother than straight "breakfast" teas, but still plenty robust.

Malty Flavor

This tea definitely has a very distinctive malty flavor - tastes almost burned - interesting but not sure if I would buy again.
